Goals:

To successfully detach and attach root drive to EC2 Windows 2008 instance plus modify BCD store.

Explain: Why would we do this?

Event Viewer Logs- C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs
Change Registry Settings- C:\Windows\System32\config
Memory Dumps (BSOD)- C:\Windows\Minidump or C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP

bcdedit (Only found on EC2 Windows 2008r2 instances)

Commands used:

Create a w2k8r2b folder
bcdedit /store c:\boot\bcd >>C:\w2k8r2b\bcd.txt (Backs up BCD store)

cd \
cd windows\system32

bootsect /nt60 D: /mbr
C:\windows\system32\bcdboot.exe D:\Windows /s D:
bcdedit /store D:\Boot\BCD /set {default} device partition=D:
bcdedit /store D:\Boot\BCD /set {default} osdevice partition=D:
bcdedit /store D:\Boot\BCD /set {bootmgr} device partition=D:
